Strike While There Is An Iron · Dec 13, 03:47 PM
Hot or not, as long as there’s an iron, one should strike! Of course I don’t know how to iron, so we’ll instead talk about striking while the whip is in the air. Or scratching while the nails are long. Or zapping while the instrument is still plugged in…
Oh, 2006, will I be unhappy to see you go? 5 break-ups with the ex (3 by him, 2 by me, 1 by him via email—tres classy), becoming queen of page 68 in Marie Claire magazine’s November issue (no, not page 69, but I was close!), invited to be on the Board of nonprofit Spark (www.sparksf.org), begged to become part of YearlyKos Convention.org’s leadership committee and penner of the newsletter, enlightened by the stripping classes and pole work at S Factor, and finally new friend to Zarah, Katy, Amy, Pam, Martina and Fairuz…
What’s Spark? Spark is an incredible group of young professional women in the Bay Area who help women’s grassroots organizations around the world, leading an annual delegation somewhere in the world to visit a different project each year. This past year they went to Jordan, and how fabulous would that have been to have gone with a gorgeous group of gals as opposed to a washed-out cynic Scottsman who ditched his own tour 3 days before it ended?
So as the professional and community iron/whip/manicured nails heated up for me (thank the powers that be in the Universe), the love life, well she tanked. You can’t have it all, can you? And why the fuck not? So 2006, you were a mixed bag full of personal and professional accolades even as you made damn sure that my soul mate would ellude me for 12 months. Are you trying to teach me a lesson? Learn me a thing or two? Am I supposed to be getting my house in order before love comes a’knockin’?
Is there even a plan? How was your 2006? Will you miss it? Will you kiss it? Let’s all hope that our missing pieces find their way home in 2007…
